Keyshawn Davis Believes He’d Make Mincemeat of Devin Haney

Oftentimes, outside observers love saying how much smoother the punches would have been had they been gloved up in a fight they watched from afar. Now, lightweight contender Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis (11-0, 7 KO’s) believes he’d put the paws on “spoon-fed” two-division champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15 KO’s).

Despite still making his bones in the sport, The Businessman thinks roughing up The Dream would be a breeze. Unsurprisingly, Haney did not agree with this sentiment. Davis doubled down on his statements in The Good Exchange, an in-house Top Rank promotion piece, with Bruce Carrington.

“It’d be an easy fight for me, bro! Like, super easy, bro! I know I would stop Devin Haney! I been saying this, [even] before the Ryan Garcia fight. But he just don’t have nothing for me, he got nothing for me. You don’t have no power, you got nothing for me to worry about. What are you going to do to stop me and what I got coming with?”

PUT ME IN COACH!

Davis is next scheduled to go head-to-head with Gustavo Lemos this November 8 in this third and final bout of the year. While clearly he is a very talented boxer, it is rather bold and brash for The Businessman to so capriciously write off Haney so dismissively. Especially since Davis, ranked #3 (WBO), #3 (IBF) and #3 (WBC), has yet to accomplish half of the feats Haney has to date. Although, the declaration is not all that surprising.

Davis has long since pledged his loyalty to fellow boxer and two-division champion Shakur Stevenson, who is another sworn professional enemy of Haney. With this being the case, in the past Davis has routinely aired his vitriolic opinions about The Dream while in earshot of the media. In this regard, this latest tidbit is nothing new.

Therefore, with the stage set up as it is, all we the boxing public can do is wait to see who Haney faces next and how Davis next fairs in the ring. Ideally we will get solid and entertaining duels on both occasions. Yet, in the meantime, there is little doubt that this extended animosity and backbiting will provide a few more entertaining episodes.
