Shakur Stevenson Says Kenny Ellis Has No Say On Who Tank Davis Fights
Two-divisional champion and top lightweight challenger Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (20-0, 10KO) says multi-divisional champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis trainer Kenny Ellis is nothing more than a hype man. Ellis has been making the rounds claiming that Tank wants all the smoke with rivals Stevenson and undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney.
STEVENSON SAYS KENNY ELLIS HAS NO POWER TO MAKE A FIGHT
The boxing community was buzzing all over social media after hearing his statement. While engaging with fans on social media, Fearless claimed that Ellis is nothing more than the guy that carries the towel with no authority on who gets to fight Tank.
When fans tried to accuse the two-divisional champion of ducking the fight, Stevenson re-iterated that Ellis is powerless and that if it was a sincere offer, he would definitely fight Gervonta Davis.
He does have a point, as Davis is serving a 90-day house arrest sentence from a hit-and-run accident in 2020. So the Baltimore power-puncher will be unavailable for the next three months. Boxing fans can only hope that Team Davis has that same energy when Tank can return to the ring.
In September 2022, he lost the unified junior lightweight titles on the scale in a victory over Robson Conceicao. Stevenson has been shaking things up in the division since announcing he was moving up. He once told FightHype that he would expose Davis if they ever fought.
Stevenson is viewed as one of the most talented fighters in the sport. His defense, counterpunching, and ring IQ are top-notch. It’s also the reason many fans see him as a huge threat to anyone in the division.
